Las Lagunas de Mijas Costa is a place located in the municipality of Mijas  in the province of Malaga.  It could be said that it is a very commercial, modern and fairly quiet place. There are not many inhabitants, almost 50,000 according to a census carried out in 2020, so it becomes a great option if you prefer to live in sparsely populated areas.

It is a recently created town. Approximately 80% of the built housing has been done in a 30-year period. Therefore, the properties do not have much time of construction.

Characteristics of the area

In Mijas, there is Mijas Pueblo and Mijas Costa. In the latter, there are three localities: Calahonda, Las Lagunas, and La Cala. Las Lagunas is relatively new and the properties are almost always three bedrooms and two bathrooms, around 100 square meters.

Regarding the streets, they are wide, the parks are large, and there are many spaces dedicated to sports and cultural activities. As the environment has been gradually developing, many entrepreneurs have emerged who have taken advantage of the great opportunity.

The population has increased, and the number of properties too. The majority of property buyers are young people from 30 to 40 years old who want to have their first home in this area.

The buildings do not have much construction time. They have parking, beautiful communal areas, a swimming pool, and the materials chosen are of good quality. Sellers are generally those whose families grew up and are looking for a larger place. Another factor that makes them sell is the search for specific schools for their children.

One disadvantage could be that it may not be very attractive to older people, perhaps because everything is very new, and some may not like that idea.

Properties are quite affordable when compared to other nearby areas. For example, a one-bedroom and one-bathroom flat could cost €157,700.

There is also a four-bedroom and one-bathroom flat located on the second floor that could cost €149,000. Perhaps the difference in price is determined by the location.

Regarding rentals, it is possible to find small properties from €500 per month to larger ones at €15,000 per month. Everything will depend on what you are looking for. Therefore, it is ideal to seek advice from real estate experts.
